Description

A hike to discover the Flaine landscape from a different angle. In the heart of the Aujon mountain pastures, this discovery trail, accessible to all, is a real immersion in a magnificent natural area, typical of the Alps.

Overlooking the resort of Flaine, this easy walk will take you on a discovery of the skills of mountain pastoralists, past and present. This tradition, deeply rooted in the Haute-Savoie region, has been perpetuated down the ages in the Aujon mountain pastures, where milk is still processed on site.

The area is also rich in flora and fauna typical of our mountains, giving you the chance to spot chamois and marmots with a bit of luck.

Along the way, you'll also pass through the Flaine hydrogeological basin, one of the four basins of a listed natural site: the Désert de Platé. Set amidst lapiaz, this basin once provided the water needed to water the herds.

You'll also pass by the Belvédère d'Aujon, a superb viewpoint overlooking the Magland valley and the peaks of the northern Aravis chain (Pointe d'Areu and Pointe Percée), accessible from the Chalets d'Aujon and back.
