The route follows a paved road built in the Middle Ages by the monks of the Chartreuse de Mélan. It linked the village of Taninges to the mountain pastures of Praz de Lys, 1000 m higher up.
A variant shortens the route without passing Lac de Roy.
Cross the road to reach the old village via the Grande Rue, take the old bridge on the left and at Place du Château, follow Montée du Sapeur.
1/ Follow the cobblestone signs to Praz de Lys. The path passes through hamlets and continues into the forest.
2/ Follow the signs for Lac de Roy to the left (it is also possible to reach Praz de Lys directly by continuing to the right on the paved path through the pastures).
3/ At Petit Planey, cross the road and follow the path towards Lac de Roy.
4/ At Combe de Gron, turn left towards Lac de Roy. It is possible to descend towards Brésy to reach the center of Praz de Lys (variant 8 km).
5/ Go straight on past Lac de Roy. Pass close to the Chalet de Véran, then join the Col de la Ramaz road.
6/ Cross the road and turn right onto the track running parallel to the road, down towards Praz de Lys.
7/ Reach the center of the Praz de Lys resort.
