The ideal family walk! Come to the pastures near Lac de Roy, a treasure of Praz de Lys Sommand, facing Mont-Blanc.
The magnificent glacial Lac de Roy is a must-see of our resort. Panoramic view of the Grandes Alpes.
Getting to the lake via this mountainside footpath facing Mont-Blanc is an incredible experience.
You’ll most likely see marmots on the pastures, so take the time to observe them!
During the summer holidays, the site can get very crowded: it’s best to go before noon or in the late afternoon, and consider taking the Giffre shuttle buses to get to the starting point.
From the Col de la Ramaz, follow a wide stony path slightly uphill towards the Lac de Roy. In the summer season, there are herds up on Véran pastures so remember to close gates. It’s possible to just walk around the lake, or you can go on a longer walk up to the ridge, for a superb view down across Giffre Valley, the Môle and Aravis Mountains (360-degree panoramic view from the Pointe du Haut Fleury).
