A loop in the heart of the mountain pastures of Praz de Lys Sommand, with the 2 beautiful peaks of Chalune and Chavasse in your sights! A challenging mountain route on fairly technical terrain.
Park in front of the Pierre Rouges chairlift.
1/ Go down along the D308, route du Col de la Ramaz, for 500 m, then take the wide path rising to the right towards Le Coin. At the last chalets (GAEC Le Coin), take the path that climbs to the left as far as Col de Chavan.
2/ Continue towards Chalet de Chavan / La Chèvrerie.
3/ As you approach the chalet (refuge, water point), take a small path to the right around the Pointe de Chavasse to reach the Col de Vésinaz.
4/ At the Col, turn right to return to the Pointe de Chavasse. Beware, this trail is poorly marked and should be done in fine weather.
5/ On returning from Chavasse, follow a narrow path (steep at first) which joins a ridge before skirting the Pointe de Chalune on its southern flank.
Be careful! Be careful, the path is narrow, on a ridge, then slightly sloping, and can be slippery in wet weather.
Col de Chalune :
From the Col, take the path on the left up to the Pointe de Chalune (round trip). On your return from Chalune, you can descend directly to Chalet Blanc and the start without passing through Foron and the Col de la Bolire (see variant, dotted line on map), or continue on the left towards the Col de Foron.
Col de Foron :
At Col de Foron, turn right down towards Foron du Haut, then Foron du Milieu. Reach the Foron du Milieu chalet and follow the combe up to Col de la Bolire.
Col de la Bolire :
At the Col de la Bolire, follow a path on the right to Chalet Blanc.
