Charmette Alpine pastures

The Charmette pastures are a beautiful natural area. Cows and sheep graze here and if you’re really lucky, you might even see a chamois.

You can reach Vérage pastures from the main road between Mieussy and Sommand, via Boisriant. There is a car park at the end of a tarmac road. Go along the forest path towards La Charmette. You’ll arrive at the heart of lush-green pastures, at the foot of the Col de Cordon and Haute-Pointe. Then carry on to Charmette d’en Haut pastures, to see a farm still in operation. An additional section is possible up to the Col de Cordon, for a great view across Sommand Plateau. Come back the way you came.
