What is a “gratiféria”? The name comes from Spanish: “grati” means free, and “feria” means festival. It is, therefore, an event centered on exchange that fosters social connections through giving and sharing.
Do you have items lying around your home that are still in good working condition but that you no longer use? Bring them on Saturday, November 14, 2026, to the community hall in Taninges for the second “gratiféria” in the Montagnes du Giffre!
“Following the tremendous success of last year’s gratiféria in Samoëns and the incredible community spirit it generated, it’s essential to continue this initiative in 2026,” says Mickaël Grenêche, vice president of the Montagnes du Giffre Community of Communes in charge of waste management.
On that day, as part of its public policy on waste prevention, the Community of Communes will organize its second “GRATIFÉRIA,” with essential support from local organizations—Giffre en Transition, Secours Catholique, and Entraide Internationale des Scouts from the Cluses region—as well as the municipality of Taninges.
All day long (from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), residents can drop off items they no longer use and/or pick up (for free) secondhand items—even if they don’t have anything to drop off! Volunteers from the partner organizations will be on hand to receive the items, check their condition, and then display them on tables or racks. In addition, to demonstrate that it’s possible to extend the lifespan of everyday materials and items, “repair café” and “textile upcycling” workshops will be offered free of charge to visitors.
The following items are accepted:
• Tableware, decorative items,
• Clothing, shoes,
• Small furniture,
• Sports and recreational items,
• Books,
• Games and toys,
• DIY and gardening supplies,
• Household linens, etc.
→ Donations must be in good working condition and clean: the “gratiféria” is not a recycling center,
→ Ideally, items that can be carried by a single person (under 20 kg): no assistance will be provided for unloading or loading vehicles.
At the end of the day, any items that have not been claimed will be given to volunteers from Entraide Internationale des Scouts in the Cluses region.
To ensure everyone can enjoy this event, anyone who stays too long in an attempt to take as many items as possible will be escorted to the exit… There’s enough for everyone!
Free access. This event is for individuals only.
Please be respectful and friendly!.
