Septitrain: guided tours aboard Samoëns' little train
Description
The inhabitants of Samoëns, the Septimontains, have their own little train: the Septitrain! A unique and picturesque way to discover the village.
Let the Septitrain be your guide and explore Samoëns in an original and friendly way, as Claude, its driver, comments on the ride. Among other things, he'll tell you all about the village's history, which goes back almost a thousand years.
Aboard the little train, you'll see the symbols of the Haut-Giffre valley: the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, the Halle de la Grenette and the Gros Tilleul. A unique opportunity to discover places that have stood the test of time and bear witness to the rich past of a village that was once the economic heart of the region.
Samoëns, located in north-eastern Haute-Savoie between Chamonix and Geneva, is also the last bastion of the limestone Alps.
The village is also the birthplace of Savoie's famous stonemasons, the Frahans, who contributed to Vauban's great construction projects. Organized into a brotherhood, the Frahans left an indelible architectural mark on Samoëns, visible on many of the village's buildings, which you'll discover on your ride on the little train, in the heart of a setting that's both majestic and authentic.
This tour is not just a simple visit, but a real panorama of Savoyard life, history and culture!
