The Samoëns Cultural Department and Municipal Library, in partnership with the Criou Livres association and Savoie et Haute-Savoie Biblio (Public Reading Department), are pleased to invite you to the performance of Nanoulak on Saturday, September 26, at 6:30 PM at the library.

It is suitable for audiences aged 8 and up.

"Bib’en scènes" is an event organized by Savoie et Haute-Savoie Biblio to develop and promote live performance art within libraries across the Savoy region.

Nanoulak is a story about nature and mixed heritage. It tells the tale of a cub born to a polar bear mother, Nanouk, and a brown bear father, Aklak—both of whom fled their respective territories (the Arctic ice pack and the Canadian forest) due to global warming. The two bears meet in Alaska, in the land of the Gwich’in people, and give birth to Nanoulak, a mixed-breed cub. Woven into the story of Nanouk, Aklak, and Nanoulak is the tale of Alestine, a young Native American storyteller who guides the audience through the landscapes and figures that inhabit her world.
Nanoulak is a performance blending spoken word and music; the recited text is accompanied by small instruments, vocals, and human beatboxing.
During the show, Natacha Dubois models clay live on stage, creating the figures that appear throughout the story.
