Description

“The paintings exhibited at the Samoëns media library share a common theme: light in the landscapes of the Giffre Valley. It’s the light and the atmosphere that I try to capture, rather than a faithful reproduction of a landscape or scene.
I take many photos of places or scenes that catch my eye. These photos serve as starting points for my work in the studio.
Although I’ve been painting for 20 years now, my calling came rather late. After many years as a financial manager in various environments, I discovered painting somewhat by chance when I walked into a studio one day, but I haven’t stopped since. I’ve worked diligently to make up for lost time, both in the studio and at home.
After using acrylics extensively a few years ago, I now prefer oil paints, which allow for better layering of glazes. I also often like to mix techniques, starting with acrylics, then experimenting with collages of various materials (paper, sand, or other materials), always finishing with oil. I occasionally return to pastels on paper, which I practiced a lot in my drawing classes." – Lise Marien
